Using the KU Art History Image Catalog

About this Online Catalog

As of August 8th, 2003, this online catalog contains 10,578 works of art and architecture and 25,188 total images. Some works are shown in only one image; others have two or more, usually showing different views (e.g., of a sculpture or a building) or one or more details.

Currently, all images are licensed perpetually from Saskia, Ltd. They may be seen and/or used only by members of the KU community. Everyone can search the catalog and see thumbnails, but only KU students, staff, and faculty may see the larger versions of the images. Please see our Acceptable Use Policy for more details.

Gradually, additional images licensed from Saskia and from other vendors will be added. Also, images from KU's own art history slide library will be added.

This collection and catalog were developed as a joint project by the KU Libraries and the KU Department of the History of Art. Image selection and consulting on data conversion and image design were supplied by the Department's Slide Librarian. Hardware, software, data conversion, and interface creation were supplied by the Libraries. The license to display images from Saskia, Ltd. was purchased with funds from the Student Instructional Technology Fee.
